Amira Dance Productions is Wichita’s longest-running, community dance studio offering instruction and performances in cultural world dance styles, such as bellydancing (including new American forms), East Indian, hula/Tahitian, ballroom, hula hooping and new Korean pop, as well as a Middle Eastern drumming class. ADP studio founder Alice Castilow, whose stage name was Amira, also co-founded the Metropolitan Ballet of Wichita. She was among the first to offer the cultural bellydance to the Midwest in 1974, bringing ballet and Middle Eastern dance from her training in New York City with the famed choreographer and director Ibrahim “Bobby” Farrah.
