CityArts serves as a center for artistic creation and appreciation, featuring the works of local and regional artists as well as offering art classes for youth and adults in mediums such as painting, drawing, pottery, photography, glass blowing, jewelry making and much more. Payment Registraton: • Register at CityArts in person, mail in the registration form with payment, fax in the registration form with VISA or MASTERCARD, phone in with Visa or MasterCard, or e-mail your registration form to cwaugh@wichita.gov. • Checks should be made out to CityArts. • Pre-registration is required the Thursday before class start date.
Registraton Confirmation: • Keep a record of the date and time of the class in which you are enrolled. • Notification will be given only if a class has been filled or cancelled. • Classes are on a first come first served basis. • CityArts will not hold registration without payment.
Refund Request will be granted strictly following City Policy: • Prior to the Second Class of the session = 80% refund. • Prior to the Third Class = 50% refund. • After the Third Class of the session = NO refund. • If a class is cancelled by CityArts, a FULL refund will be issued. • Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive a refund.
ADULT CLASSES
CityArts programming offers an extensive range of art classes and a variety of skill levels for adults in many mediums. All programming is geared towards making the arts accessible to everyone. There is a variety of day and evening classes, to stimulate your imagination and creativity. Adult classes are for ages 16 and up unless listed otherwise.
College Credits Ask your college & university Art Departments about earning credits by taking courses at CityArts. We have agreements with most area schools to offer college credits for classes at CityArts in the areas of Fiber Arts, Glassblowing, and Silversmithing. Talk first to your school, then call or come see us at CityArts.
ADULT FIBER
Shibori and Japanese Paste Resist Painting with dyes (fiber reactive) on silk fabric with the use of a Japanese paste resist method. Dyes allow you to wash and wear fabric without losing color while retaining a wonderful feel of fabric. Age 16+ Material Fee: $25 due 1st class to instructor 5wk 3/24-4/21 WED 6:30-8:30PM N. Dyeing - Devore and Discharge Learn two different processes to create your own cloth. Discharge colors in a design on a tot bag and add different dye color back into your design, then acid burnout your design in velvet creating the look of sculpted velvet. Beyond Traditional Fiber – Mixed Media on Clothing Be adventurous and learn how to design and create a “one of a kind” fiber art piece by exploring unusual combinations of paint, dye, bonding agents, foil, FuseFX and heat. Glass Blowing CityArts is the only place in town to experience liquid glass, glory holes and blowpipes. Learn the basics of this unique art and produce forms in hot glass. Digital Photo Collage on Fiber State of the art technology and techniques for using digital photo’s in your art. You will use personal photos, non copyrighted images or drawings to explore techniques and learn how to create a collage, print on leather, ordinary fabric or a piece of personal clothing. Fiber Photo Emulsion Dying Technique Dye your own cotton shirt or a piece of fabric (provided) using a light sensitive photo emulsion dyeing technique by painting, sponging, spraying with simple batik methods. Fabric painted in the dark and then exposed to sunlight, which will generate the final image. Cotton cloth will be provided. CITYARTS FIELD TRIPS
CityArts field trips are creative and fun; fit for any age! Participants can explore their imaginations and learn creative skills in this multimedia arts facility. The experience includes gallery tours, open studios and creating hands-on art projects.

Field trip art activities depend on size and age of the group, the current gallery exhibition, and the available instructor.
CityArts is in the Old Town Plaza, next to the Warren Old Town. Free parking is available in the Parking Garage on the west side of the plaza. Current construction allows parking. There is handicapped parking on Mead Street as well as an elevator in the building.
Fieldtrips must be requested at least 2 weeks prior to start date. Upon approval of fieldtrip, the coordinator will be notified by phone and e-mail. For further questions, please contact Ruthie Spriggs, CityArts Education Coordinator, at RSpriggs@wichita.gov or by phone (316) 462-2787 x795.
